Shower Repair & Installation
A shower has two failure points that matter most. The cartridge behind the handle controls temperature and flow — when it wears down, the shower either loses pressure, stops mixing hot and cold properly, or starts dripping from the head. The pan underneath catches all the water — when the seal fails or the pan cracks, water finds its way into the floor and the ceiling below. Both problems start small. A shower that takes longer to reach temperature. A hairline crack in the pan that you notice only when you step on it. The earlier either one is caught, the cheaper the repair. We identify which part is failing, then quote the specific fix before we start.

FAQ
How do I know if it is the cartridge or the valve?
If the handle turns smoothly but the temperature is wrong or the pressure is weak, the cartridge is usually the problem. If the handle itself is stiff, grinding, or will not turn, the valve body behind the wall may be worn as well. Cartridge replacement is a one-visit job. Valve replacement requires opening the wall and takes longer, so it is worth confirming which one is failing before we start.
My shower drips even when it’s off. What causes that?
Almost always the cartridge. When the internal seals wear out, water finds a path past them and drips out of the head. Replacing the cartridge usually solves it. If the drip continues after a new cartridge, the valve seat itself has been damaged and needs to be addressed separately.
The caulk around my shower base keeps turning black. Why?
That is mold growing in the old caulk, and it usually means water is getting behind the seal and staying there. Simply scraping off the top layer will not fix it. The old caulk needs to be removed completely, the surface cleaned and dried, and new silicone applied. If it comes back within weeks, the leak behind the wall is more serious than the caulk line shows.
How long does a shower pan installation take?
A standard removal and installation is usually a full day, sometimes two if the wall needs to be opened for drain access or the framing underneath needs repair.
