Laundry Box Installation & Replacement
A laundry box is the recessed connection point in the wall where the washer supply lines, the drain, and often the shut-off valves are housed. It exists for one reason: to keep the connections accessible and contained. Without a box, the water lines and the drain hose run loose into the wall, which is against code in most cases and makes future service difficult. The box also contains any small leaks before they reach the wall cavity. When a laundry box fails — usually from a cracked housing, a corroded valve, or a failed drain connection — the damage is hidden until the wall itself starts to show it. We replace the box and check the connections behind it while everything is open.

FAQ
What is a laundry box, and do I need one?
A laundry box is the recessed panel in the wall where the washer supply lines, drain, and shut-off valves connect. If your washer currently connects through a hole in the drywall with the lines running loose, a laundry box brings it up to code, keeps the connections accessible, and contains small leaks before they reach the wall cavity.
My laundry box is leaking. Can it be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?
Usually replaced. The housing on older boxes is often plastic and becomes brittle over time, and once it has cracked, it will not seal properly again. The good news is that replacing the box is a single-visit job, and it is a good opportunity to replace the shut-off valves inside at the same time.
What material do you use for the laundry box?
We use the best material available on the market, sourced from well-known manufacturers with a strong reputation for reliability. The box houses connections that sit under constant pressure and are hidden inside the wall — the wrong material fails silently and causes expensive damage behind the drywall. We do not cut corners on it, and we do not use generic parts from unknown suppliers. If you want to know exactly which brand and specification we use for your setup, ask when you book and we will tell you before the job starts.
Do I need a laundry box if my washer is already hooked up?
If the current setup works and nothing is leaking, not necessarily. But if you are renovating the laundry room, replacing the washer, or the existing connection is not up to code, installing a box is the right time to do it. It is much easier while the wall is open than after the fact.
How long does a laundry box installation take?
A standard installation is usually two to three hours, depending on how accessible the wall is and whether the piping behind it needs any modification.
